About Our School

Purposeful Learning
Promotes a
Purposeful Future.

Oaklawn Elementary serves a diverse community, providing a quality education for all students. With classrooms from Early Childhood through 5th grade, our school is equipped to help students achieve academic success in a safe and fun environment. As a part of the 2018 Bond, an $11.1 million rebuild of an original section of the school was completed in 2021. Oaklawn is dedicated to developing each student academically and socially. Oaklawn offers a well-defined core curriculum with tiered reading and math interventions as well as English Language Learners (ELL) to support all students.

Oaklawn was named a Project Lead The Way Distinguished School (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023) and was awarded the Kansas State Department of Education Challenge Award (2020 and 2021).

Technology is integrated across the curriculum with teachers using SMART Boards in classrooms and students utilizing devices daily. Oaklawn has a 1:1 ratio of iPads for Early Childhood-1st grade students and a 1:1 ratio of Chromebooks for 2nd-5th grade students.

Oaklawn staff work daily to engage students in purposeful learning opportunities that promote a purposeful future. Classroom teachers, reading specialists, paraprofessionals, math specialists, and social workers are a few examples of the highly qualified staff who support student’s needs each day.
